JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – In Missouri, lobbyists are required to report any gifts or money spent on a lawmaker or their family to the ethics commission.

However, a new bill is getting a lot of attention for what it considers as a ‘gift.’

House Bill 2059 would extend the term ‘gift’ to include “sexual relations between a registered lobbyist and a member of the general assembly or his or her staff.”

According to the bill, it would not put a price on sex.

Rep. Bart Korman told KSHB that the idea for the bill started after two sex scandals during the last legislative session.

“I think [the public] should know,” Korman said.
