The Big 12 Conference got approval on Wednesday, January 13 for a  football championship game.

The NCAA approved by a 7-2 vote the Big 12’s proposal for conferences with fewer than 12 teams to hold a championship game.

The Big 12 has not had a conference championship game since 2010, when the league was reduced to 10 teams for the 2011 football season.

If the conference still has 10 teams, it would match the top two teams in the regular season in the title game, or would once again have divisions if the league chose to expand from 10 teams.
