Cowboys Rally But Fall Short at Texas

Oklahoma State fell behind by 23 points before cutting the deficit to three and eventually losing to Texas 74-69 at the Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, January 16.

OSU made just 2 of their first 15 shots to start the game and fell behind by 16 points and trailed at halftime 40-25.

Texas built the lead to 23 early in the second half, before the Cowboys began to come back.

Twice OSU cut the Longhorn lead to three, with an Anthony Allen putback making it 65-62.

Juwan Evans scored on a layup in the final seconds to make it 70-67, but the Longhorns made enough free throws to clinch the win.

OSU shot just 38 percent from the field.

Leyton Hammonds led the Cowboys with 18 points and added 9 rebounds.

Tavarius Shine had 14 points off the bench and hit four 3-pointers.

Evans added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Isaiah Taylor led Texas with 18 points.

The Cowboys dropped to 9-8 on the season, 1-4 in Big 12 play.

OSU next will host Kansas on Tuesday, January 19, at 6:00 pm at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
