Cowgirls Rout Sooners in Bedlam Basketball

Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team took control early and blew out 14th-ranked Oklahoma 73-42 on Saturday afternoon, January 16, at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.

OSU forced 26 turnovers, and held Oklahoma to season lows in points, field goal percentage (26%), 3-point  percentage (14%), and assists (4).

The Cowgirls went on an 11-1 run late in the first quarter to take control, leading by 10 after the first quarter, and by 15 at halftime, 32-17.

The lead grew in the second half, as OU shot just 21 percent from the field in the second half.

Brittney Martin led all scorers with 19 points and added 14 rebounds for the Cowgirls.

Martin passed the 1,500 point mark for her career.

Kaylee Jensen added 17 points.

OSU hit 8 three-pointers and outrebounded OU by seven, 39-32.

Maddie Manning was the only Sooner to score in double figures with 13 points.

The 31-point victory margin matched OSU’s biggest Bedlam win in the Big 12 era, equaling a win in 1997.

OU’s 42 points were their fewest in a Bedlam game in the Big 12 era.

The Cowgirls ended a two-game losing streak and have won four of the last five Bedlam games in Stillwater.

OSU improved to 13-4 on the season, 3-3 in Big 12 play.

The Cowgirls will next play Iowa State on Wednesday night, January 20, at Gallagher-Iba Arena at 7:00.

OU dropped to 12-4 on the year, 3-2 in conference play.

The Sooners host Texas Tech at 10:30 am Wednesday, January 20, at the Lloyd Noble Center.
