OHP Trooper injured in accident on I-40 near Shawnee

POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Okla. – An Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper was struck by a vehicle on I-40 west of Shawnee Tuesday morning.

Just after 8 a.m., a trooper who was working an accident in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near McLoud Rd was struck by a vehicle.

Officials say the trooper sustained head and leg injuries and was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital.

The person who was driving the vehicle that hit the trooper has been treated and released.

Traffic in the area is backed up.

Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route.
