A bold robbery outside an area Walmart.
It happened Monday night around 11 p.m.
A man attempted to steal a purse, but the woman he targeted fought back.
"I carry my life in my purse. I don’t know if anyone else does, but I do," Nelson said. "And, I didn’t want to let go of it."
Marty Nelson never did let go, not even when a man with a gun demanded her to.
"I was coming out of Walmart, and I had three bags, and my purse was on this shoulder," she said.
That's when Nelson said she heard someone running toward her car.
She was half way inside when it happened.
"My purse was on this arm and, when I sat in my car, I was trying to get my legs in and, at that time, he came up and grabbed my purse," she said. "I said 'I ain't letting go of my purse,' and he said, 'B****, let go.' Then, he got the gun and stuck it right on my nose, and he said, 'I will blow your brains out,' and I still didn’t let go."
For a few seconds, Nelson and the man fought for the purse.
"I was handing on to that purse," she said. "I wasn’t going to let go."
Moments later, the straps on the purse broke.
The man ran off with it.
But, Nelson didn't give up.
She took off after him.
When she couldn't catch him, she called police.
Nelson didn't get her purse back but now realizes how much worse things could have been.
"He pulled that gun and stuck it right in my face and said, 'Let go of it, or it will be your life,'" she said.
Looking back, there is one thing she would have done differently.
"You know how you can hit men where it hurts? I wish I would have done that," she said.
