New ones will have a sticker price under $100,000 depending on the engine.

HUMBLE, Texas – A vehicle that plays a crucial role in one beloved film series is rarely seen on the road, but that could all be changing soon.

The DeLorean is prominently featured in the movie, “Back to the Future,” but many Americans have not had the chance to see one of the 80s cars in person.

The last time a DeLorean was built was about 35 years ago.

Since then, the DeLorean Motor Company has been focused on refurbishing cars from all over the world.

Now, company officials told KPRC that the company will begin building replica 1982 DeLoreans under a low-volume manufacturing bill.

“It’s huge for us. It means we’re back as a car company again,” said DeLorean CEO Stephen Wynne.

The new DeLoreans will likely sell for less than $100,000, but the price will depend what modern engine is installed.

Wynne hopes the first car will be completed in early 2017.
