Cowboys Take Bedlam Wrestling Dual in Stillwater

Oklahoma State’s 4th-ranked wrestling team completed a season sweep of Oklahoma with a 26-11 win over the Sooners on Friday night, February 5, at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.

OSU fell behind by losing the first two matches, including a technical fall by the Sooners’ Cody Brewer against OSU’s Gary Wayne Harding, giving Oklahoma an 8-0 lead.

The Cowboys answered by winning the next four matches and never trailed after that.

Top-ranked Dean Heil won by technical fall over Noah Teaney at 141 pounds, Anthony Collica defeated Davion Jeffries by major decision at 149, and top-ranked Alex Dieringer won by technical fall at 165 over Clark Glass.

The Cowboys improved to 9-2 on the season, 6-0 in the Big 12.

The Sooners fell to 9-4 overall, 4-2 in conference play.

Before the match, OSU head coach John Smith was honored for his 25 years as the Cowboy wrestling coach.
