MCALESTER, Okla. – An Oklahoma school board unanimously voted to fire a superintendent on Saturday night after allegations arose of misuse of school funds.
The board said Gore and her husband violated school district policy by using school funds for personal use.
“We are in a financial crisis that the superintendent, with the assistance of her husband, has helped create that crisis,” said Bill Ervin, the attorney for the school board.
“We’re, we’re pretty much broke,” Northcutt said.
At this point, officials say they are still trying to figure out exactly how much money was misused by Gore.
According to the Associated Press, Gore’s husband Skip, the district’s suspended plant operations manager, will face a termination hearing Feb. 12 and 13 related to his alleged involvement.
The Gores have denied the allegations.
