CHANDLER, Okla. – A large grass fire is affecting drivers in Lincoln County.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday, officials near Chandler responded to a large grass fire.

The strong winds pushed heavy smoke across the highway, which allowed the fire to spread.

It appears that around 100 acres were burned.

In fact, several vehicles were involved in a crash along the Turner Turnpike near that fire, which forced crews to close the westbound lanes of the turnpike.

Around 4 p.m., troopers opened the inside lane of the Turner Turnpike, but say the outside lane will remain closed.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department has deemed Monday as a Red Flag Fire Alert day.

Firefighters are encouraging everyone to be extremely careful outside, adding that a little spark can spread to a large blaze.
