CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A North Carolina woman who is battling cancer got the surprise of her life recently.

Gina Short is fighting breast cancer and had no idea she won $1 million playing the lottery.

Short won the prize as part of the first Ultimate Millions second-chance drawing. Short’s entry was chosen from more than 1.2 million entries in the drawing.

The North Carolina Education Lottery captured video of Short falling to the floor when she found out about the prize.

“I have a second chance,” she said. “That’s what my whole life is about, second chances.”

Short chose to accept the prize as a lump sum, walking away with $415,000.
