LEABURG, Ore. - A man in Oregon is lucky to be alive after he was pulled into a wood chipper while cutting down tree limbs.

Rescue workers in Leaburg say the man, who is an arborist, was trimming trees and using a wood chipper to get rid of the dead limbs.

However, his harness became entangled in the tree limbs that were being fed into the chipper.

Before he could untangle himself, he was pulled into the machine.

Amazingly, officials say his leg tripped the safety bar at the last moment, shutting the wood chipper off.

In fact, rescue crews say the chipper blades were just inches away from his head when the machine stopped.

The man was rushed to a nearby hospital with a broken leg and a head injury, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
