Oklahoma's third-ranked men's basketball team started slowly, but responded well and cruised to a 71-49 win over Oklahoma State on Wednesday night, February 24 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, to sweep the Bedlam series for the third straight year.
OSU began the game on a 10-1 run, but the Sooners whittled away at the margin, with senior forward Ryan Spangler carrying Oklahoma, scoring 19 points in the first half alone and hitting four three-pointers.
Spangler's last three-pointer ended the first half and gave OU their first lead 27-24.
After the Cowboys briefly regained the lead early in the second half, Oklahoma went on a 27-6 run to take command.
The Sooners took advantage of 18 OSU turnovers and hit ten three-pointers.
Spangler finished with a career high 26 points and added 14 rebounds.
Buddy Hield added 17 points.
Jeff Newberry led OSU with 19 points and made five three-pointers.
Tavarius Shine was the only other Cowboy in double figures with 11 points.
Oklahoma beat OSU for the seventh straight time overall and the 12th time in a row in Norman.
The Sooners improved to 22-5 overall, and 10-5 in Big 12 play.
The Cowboys fell to 12-16 overall, 3-12 in conference.
Oklahoma will visit Texas next on Saturday at 1:00, while Oklahoma State hosts West Virginia Saturday at 5:00.
