OKLAHOMA – You’ve likely never noticed the building at Will Rogers World Airport.

It’s off to the side in the cargo area.

But, what happens inside makes a lasting impression on the young men and women who visit – all thanks to a volunteer who gives them a taste of Oklahoma hospitality.

Ramona Duff has volunteered for eight years taking care of the recruits heading to Fort Sill.

They come from all over the country – often tired, sometimes nervous, always grateful for helping hand and warm smile.

The Military Welcome Center, sponsored by YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City, has 40 volunteers to help staff the rest area.

But, Duff stands out.

“She’s very well known here at the service center,” Duff said. “Just how she treats all of the men and women who come through like they’re her own kids, and they really enjoy seeing her.”
