SAN DIEGO, Calif. - A retired Marine pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, admitting that he killed his girlfriend.

According to KSWB, Brian Karl Brimager admitted to murdering Yvonne Baldelli, who disappeared in 2011.

Brimager admitted to stabbing Baldelli to death, dismembering her body and hiding her remains in a remote jungle in Panama.

Baldelli's skeletal remains were found in the jungle almost two years later.

Brimager also admitted to sending fake emails from Baldelli's account to her friends and family, pretending to be her so they believed she was still alive.

Prosecutors say Brimager and Baldelli moved from Los Angeles to Panama just two months before her death.

Almost immediately after they arrived in Panama, authorities say Brimager began emailing another girlfriend and discussed plans to move back to California to live with her.

Prosecutors are recommending that Brimager be sentenced to 30 years in prison. The defense is arguing for 20 years.
