FAIRFAX, Va. – A Virginia police officer was killed in the line of duty just one day after being sworn in, authorities said.

Prince Williams County police officer Ashley Guidon was killed Saturday night while responding to domestic-related shooting.

Guidon had been an officer in the past but took some time off, according to Corey Stewart, chairman of the board of county supervisors.

Authorities told CNN that two other officers were also injured in the shooting.

Before Saturday, the department had three officers killed in the line of duty since 1970.
