BRISTOW, Okla. – An early morning grass fire caused part of the Turner Turnpike to shut down Monday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the Turner Turnpike closed near east bound at Stroud and west bound at Bristow around 7:40 a.m. due to a grass fire.

The smoke from the fire was so thick that there was zero visibility for motorists near the MM 192 area.

Around 8:40 a.m., the roadway reopened.

The stretch of road was closed for approximately one hour.
