A few children in Iowa have found a captive audience to practice their literacy skills, they are reading to cats.

Officials cite introducing reading kids to cats will give the animals a better chance at adoption.

Liz Ford, a supervisor at the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center, said the having the cats and children together creates a low pressure environment.

“… And these cats aren’t going to correct their pronunciation, so I think it’s a win-win situation,” she said.
