Suspects arrested in the death of New Mexico Army veteran in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. —

Two suspects wanted in a deadly shooting of a 24-year-old Army Veteran in Albuquerque last month were arrested by Ardmore Police and U.S. Marshals.

Authorities were alerted to Matthew Chavez, 25, and Veronica Trimble, 22 , after pair checked into a hotel room at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville, according to KOB.

Chavez reportedly robbed a Hastings Entertainment in Ardmore on Friday, police told KOB.

Albuquerque police believe Chavez shot and killed Tyler Lackey on Feb. 5. Lackey was an Army medic recently stationed in Afghanistan,

The pair were wanted on multiple charges including  aggravated assault, armed robbery, an open count of murder,  and transferring a stolen motor vehicle, according to KOB.
