BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A father in New York is facing charges after he allegedly tortured his 3-year-old son.

The toddler’s grandmother called police to report the abuse, police told WPIX.

Authorities say the boy had “multiple injuries from his father” and was severely malnourished.

A criminal complaint alleges that 23-year-old Leonardo Decouite hit the child in the face with a belt across his back and face. It also claims he whipped the boy on his stomach and back with a cord.

Police allege Decouite forced his son to kneel on Legos until he bled, pushed the child under hot water until his feet started to burn and put out lit cigarettes on him.

Investigators say Decouite allegedly shot the child in the foot with a BB gun three times.

The complaint alleges that the boy had second-degree burns, permanent scarring and now has limited use of his hand.

Decouite was charged with assault.

The boy’s mother was also charged with assault since she didn’t take the boy to a doctor for treatment of his injuries.
