LAWTON, Okla. – It was a scary situation for some parents in Lawton after they say a stranger approached their children.

The Lawton Police Department received a phone call on Sunday after a witness spotted a man trying to speak to a young girl in her neighborhood.

The witness said the man drove through the neighborhood several times before leaving.

The next day, a parent said she heard a man calling for her fiance’s son to come over to him.

When the woman asked the man what he was doing, she says he got into his car and left.

Police were able to track down the man and interview him.

However, he was not arrested and no charges were filed.

In light of the investigation, officials say parents should contact the police department first before posting any information on social media.

Also, investigators say parents should teach their children about potential predators.
