LOS ANGELES – A construction worker died when he fell from a tower and landed on a passing car early Thursday afternoon.

According to KTLA, the worker fell from the Wilshire Grand Tower, which is located in downtown Los Angeles.

The high-rise structure, when completed, will overtake the U.S. Bank Tower as the tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi River.

When he fell, the worker landed on a vehicle that was traveling down Figueroa.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver was being evaluated at the scene by LAFD personnel.

Authorities have not determined what caused the man to fall from the 73-floor, 1,100-foot tall skyscraper, which had just “topped out” four days earlier.
