WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. – Police are searching for a pair of would-be thieves after their robbery plan was thwarted.

According to WCPO, Dwayne Nickell was taking out the trash during his shift at the Marathon gas station when he heard two men talking about their plan to rob the store.

Without the thieves knowing it, Nickell snuck back inside the store and locked the door before they could put their plan into action.

WCPO reports that it is eerily similar to another failed robbery attempt just 10 miles away. During that attempt, the clerk  was also able to lock the door before the thieves got inside the store.

Now, police believe they are the same suspects and are deeming them “the lockout bandits.”
