PORTLAND, Texas – A 5-year-old south Texas girl has been credited with saving her mother when the woman had a seizure while in the family’s swimming pool.

The rescue captured on home surveillance video shows Tracy Anderwald unconscious in the pool at a home near Portland.

Her daughter, Allison, is seen wading in and dragging her mother to the shallow end in last Friday’s incident. Allison manages to turn her mother over so the woman can breathe.

The girl then runs to get help from other relatives, who called 911.

Anderwald, who was discharged Tuesday from a Corpus Christi hospital, says she doesn’t know why she had a seizure and lost consciousness.

Anderwald says her daughter learned to swim at 2 years old and she’s amazed that the child knew what to do.
