OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida couple was arrested this week after an alleged burrito attack.

Authorities say the couple was arrested after 51-year-old Suzanne Hurlvert hit her husband in the back of the head with a burrito during an argument over his alcohol consumption.

That is when the husband, 66-year-old Carl Own Smith, retaliated by stabbing his wife in the hand with a fork, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities were eventually called to the home on reports of a disturbance.

That is when officers saw a fork protruding from Hurlvert’s right hand.

She had to be taken to a local hospital to have it removed.

Smith was not at home by the time sheriff’s deputies arrived.

Officers later found him at a nearby bar.

When they showed Smith the pictures of his wife’s hand, he reportedly started laughing.

The pair has a lengthy history of domestic violence, the sheriff’s office said.

They were both arrested and charged with domestic violence related battery.
