An Oakdale teen is making quite the name for himself by mowing lawns in order to earn money so that he could pay for a date.

OAKDALE, Calif. – Oh, the things you do for love.

Cody Mitschelin, 14, started dating Audrey Fierro just six months ago, but the couple hadn’t been on a proper date.

Mitschelin decided that he was going to do everything in his power to change that.

The teen decided to go door-to-door to ask if his neighbors needed their lawns mowed.

“I told him no, right off the get,” Ryan Cox told KCRA. “He kind of put his head down, and I said, ‘Wait, wait, wait, why? Why do you want to mow the lawn? What do you need the money for?’ I was assuming a video game or something, you know. ‘Well, I want to take my girlfriend out to lunch tomorrow, and I don’t have enough money.”

Despite not really needing his lawn mowed, Cox says the teen’s answer surprised him enough that he agreed.

“Sold,” he said.

At that point, Cox says he decided to go with Mitschelin to try and help the teen make a buck.

As it turns out, Cox wasn’t the only one taken aback by the young lover’s plea.

In addition to giving Mitschelin job after job, many of the neighbors even gave him some love advice.

“I told him, ‘I know you’re in high school, it’s embarrassing, but get her flowers,” said Timmy Jaramillo.

Cox ended up posting a picture of Mitschelin on Facebook, which has since gone viral.

Mitschelin says he earned enough money to take Fierro on several dates.
