OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma jailer was arrested after admitting he had sexual contact with an inmate.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a former Muskogee County Jail employee has been arrested for rape in the second degree after he allegedly admitted to having sexual contact with a jail inmate.

The OSBI was asked to investigate an alleged improper relationship between jailer Harold Eugene Shinn III, 22, and a female inmate.

The alleged encounter happened in June 2015.

When investigators asked the inmate and the suspect about the sexual encounter, officials say they both had similar stories about what happened.

Shinn was dismissed from his job in January 2016 when the sheriff’s office found out what happened.

Shinn was arrested March 29th and booked into the Muskogee County Jail.
