Charges filed against man accused of slashing ex-wife

MEDFORD, Okla. — A man accused of attacking his ex-wife with kitchen knives for more than an hour Saturday faces four criminal counts.

On Thursday, a judge upped the bond from $10,000 to $50,000 for Clay Gardner, 49.

His ex-wife told NewsChannel 4 Wednesday she felt she was going to die after what she called a torturous attack.

Gardner is facing the following charges:

  • Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Domestic Assault and Battery by Strangulation
  • Possession of a Firearm after Former Conviction
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

The court appointed an attorney for Gardner, who will next appear in court April 19.
