NORMAN, Okla. – Three votes. Three votes shocked Sooner fans on Thursday afternoon.

OU senior star Buddy Hield continues to fight for the team’s first national championship after being passed over for a prestigious award.

On Thursday, Michigan State guard Denzel Valentine was named the Associated Press Player of the Year.

OU’s Buddy Hield came in second place, losing by just three votes.

Fans did not take too kindly to the news.

Hield will lead the Sooners against Villanova on Saturday in the Final Four.
