CHICKASHA, Okla. – A man who admitted to shooting and killing his 24-year-old girlfriend has been sentenced to life in prison.

In 2014, officials say Lofton Gray, Jr. admitted to shooting his girlfriend, 24-year-old Amanda Cecil, inside their home while she slept.

He allegedly told detectives he did it because she refused to let him move back to California.

When authorities discovered Cecil’s body, they began looking for Gray.

A few days later, Gray was found in a New Mexico hospital after being involved in a road rage incident.

He was eventually extradited back to Grady County.

This week, Gray was sentenced to life without parole for the murder.
