GRAFTON, Mass. – Police are investigating a brutal murder after a 5-year-old girl led them to a horrifying scene.

Authorities told WFXT that a 5-year-old girl was found wandering on the side of the road in her pajamas on Wednesday morning.

“All I could think about all day is the picture of that little girl running up the street and what she was running from,” said Jackie Costello.

WFXT reports that the girl was heading to daycare by herself when she was found by officers.

The little girl led police to her home, where officers peeked through a window and saw a man with a knife in his neck.

Once inside the home, they found the body of 36-year-old Kelley Sugarman.

Authorities rushed 42-year-old Michael Sugarman to the hospital, where he is being treated.

Investigators say there’s a good possibility that he will be charged with Kelley’s murder.
