OKLAHOMA - Living in Tornado Alley, we know the dangers the month of May can bring.

That's why we're preparing you and your family, so you'll have a plan in place should severe weather threaten your home.

The Davis family of Moore is no stranger to Mother Nature's fury.

The May 20, 2013 tornado came within blocks of their home.

The family of six always keeps an eye on the weather and prepares in advance for storms.

Megan Davis makes sure the entire family is ready to head to the shelter.

In event of severe weather, her shelter includes:

  • Extra batteries
  • Battery-operated lights, fan and radio
  • Charged cell phone
  • Bottled water
  • Food/snacks
  • Medications
  • Pet food/supplies
  • Cash/credit cards
  • Diapers
  • Field toilet
  • Important documents/photos (flash drive)
  • Toys for kids

Davis reminds her kids to respect the weather and not to fear it and to learn to be ready at an early age.
