OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City man accused of beating his girlfriend to death in July 2015 has been sentenced to life in prison.

On Monday, Devin Timmons pleaded guilty to first degree murder.

Timmons was 27-year-old Laura Brooks’ boyfriend.

Brooks, a mother of four, was found beaten to death in July 2015 inside her Southwest Oklahoma City home.

According to a police report, Brooks had trauma to her face, head and had two black eyes.

The victim’s mother told police Timmons has a history of violence.

A year before the murder, Timmons allegedly threw Brooks into a window, causing her to be hospitalized for a head injury.

Officials say a child told police they saw Timmons hurt their mother and that “she was in heaven now.”

Timmons was arrested a few days after Brooks’ murder.
