EL RENO, Okla. – Authorities in Canadian County say two men were taken into custody for alleged crimes against children.
On Wednesday, officials say 31-year-old James Simmons posted a social media post, looking for a female to have sex.
According to Undersheriff Chris West, with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, an undercover deputy responded to the post and pretended to be a 14-year-old girl.
Investigators say Simmons didn’t care that the girl was underage and immediately began describing the types of sex that he wanted to have.
“He even went so far as to say that when they got together, he wanted the girl to call him ‘daddy,” West said. “So that was pretty concerning.”
Deputies set up at a meeting point and arrested Simmons on one count of lewd acts with a child under 16.
West says the Internet Crimes Against Child Task Force is extremely important to make sure that children are not victimized by predators.
“Often times, if there’s not already victims in their past, these are the initial stages for them to be acting out fantasies and moving forward. Eventually, there are going to be some children where their lives are going to be ruined,” he said.
The Canadian County Sheriff’s Office was also contacted by the OSBI for help in a separate matter.
Officials say the case originated in Texas after an officer there received child pornography from a home in Lindsey, Oklahoma.
Texas authorities contacted the OSBI, who then called the task force to investigate.
Investigators found 52-year-old Bobby Ables at his job in Purcell and then searched his home.
“It was pretty disturbing,” West said.
Authorities say they discovered over 115,000 images and videos of child pornography on his computer. They also allegedly found a life-like sex doll in a child size.
“The age ranges of the children in these pornography videos went from 3 years of age and up,” West said. “We’re talking about babies, 3-years-old, and some of the pornography that we’re talking about, the videos and the images, are of rapes of children like this, innocent children. ”
Ables was arrested on two counts of aggravated possession of child pornography.
Investigators say both men provided full confessions.
