OKLAHOMA CITY – A woman is brutally attacked on her usual walk to the grocery store and, now, she is speaking out.
"I was scared they were going to come back and hurt me. I didn't know if they had knives or whatever. It was very terrifying. I don't ever want to go through it again,” said 61-year-old Cheryl Reynolds.
Reynolds said she walks from her nursing home to the Whittaker’s grocery store at 10th and May on a regular basis but, this time, things took a turn for the worse.
"They stopped me right here at this stop sign and wanted to know where Park Place is and I go 'Well, it's right there. You're standing on it.' And, he kept following me, asking 'Do you know what this address is or do you know what that address is?'” Reynolds said.
When Reynolds continued on her way home, one of two suspects started getting closer to her.
Then, the other one yelled at him to grab her purse.
"I started going down the road a little more, and I crossed over. Well, there was two cars, and that's whenever the guy comes up and goes 'Would you like for me to help you with your purse?' I said 'For what?'” Reynolds said.
That’s when Reynolds said he took her and slammed her to the ground.
"He went ahead and yanked and got the purse off my arm and, when he did that, he just clawed my arm, and it's black and blue there,” Reynolds said.
Then, the suspects took off running, and the only trace of them is surveillance video.
Luckily, two nursing home employees passed by Reynolds, noticed her lying on the ground and called for help.
"I got a lot of elderly friends down there that I love with all of my heart. If somebody did them like they did me, I don''t know what I'd do. It's very dangerous out here, and I never realized that until the other day,” Reynolds said.
She said she will be figuring out another way to get to the grocery store from now on.
Police are still looking for those two suspects.
