The Big 12 Conference announced Friday, June 3, it will bring back a championship game in football, beginning in 2017.

The league has not worked out all the details on how the teams would be determined, but has decided its best for the conference in terms of getting a team into the College Football Playoff and for revenue purposes as well.

The conference last played a championship game in football in 2010, but has not played one since, with just 10 teams in the league.
