Bruno Bermea

OKLAHOMA CITY – Officials say an Oklahoma County inmate who died in his jail cell likely died of natural causes.

On Tuesday, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office says 53-year-old Bruno Bermea was found unresponsive in his cell at the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

Around noon, Bermea was seen sitting and eating lunch with another inmate.

Just 45 minutes later, a detention officer found Bermea unresponsive in his cell.

Officers say they immediately began performing CPR but Bermea was pronounced dead.

Bermea was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on June 5 on an Oklahoma County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of possessing a firearm after a felony conviction.

His cause of death will be determined by the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office.
