Former Oklahoma State guard Brooks Thompson died on Thursday at the age of 45.

Thompson was diagnosed with double organ failure in April and had been in the hospital for most of the last two months fighting for his life.

Thompson played at OSU from 1992 to ’94, before going on to play in the NBA for four seasons.

After his playing career, Thompson got into coaching, spending a couple of seasons on the Cowboys’ staff before going to the state of Arizona, where he coached at Yavapai Junior College, and then was an assistant at Arizona State.

He became the head coach at Texas-San Antonio in 2006 and was there for 10 years, going 130-176 for the Roadrunners before UTSA made a coaching change this March.

Thompson is survived by his wife and three daughters.
