SEMINOLE COUNTY, Okla. – A 19-year-old man is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing a 17-year-old boy.

On Sunday, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office was called to a shooting, where they found 17-year-old Seth Johnson’s body.

Officials say Johnson died from an apparent gunshot wound.

However, witnesses were able to tell investigators that 19-year-old Curtlon Panoske shot Johnson and then stole his SUV.

Once officers tracked down Panoske, authorities say he ran from the scene and was eventually found hiding in a backyard in Ardmore.

He was arrested and booked into the Carter County Jail on a first-degree murder complaint, possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction and possession of a stolen vehicle.

OSBI officials say Panoske and the victim were acquaintances.
