Oklahoma State picked up their first College World Series win since 1993 with a 1-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara.

OSU pitcher Thomas Hatch continued his hot streak pitching a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts. Even more justifying his 3rd round pick by the Chicago Cubs in last weeks Major League Baseball draft.

The game truly was a pitchers duel. Gauchos pitcher Shane Bieber struck out six. However, he did give up one run to Garrett Benge in the fourth on a single right up the middle which scored Corey Hassell. That was all the Cowboys would need.

Through three weekends, Oklahoma State has yet to lose a post season game. They still haven’t trailed in the post season either at any point.

UC Santa Barbara made it to Omaha from a pinch hit, walk off grand slam against Louisville in the Super Regional. It’s their first appearance in the College World Series.

Saturday’s contest was only the second meeting all time between OSU andĀ UC Santa Barbara. The last one came in 1990 in the West Regional and prevented the Gauchos from getting to the College World Series back then.

Next up for Oklahoma State is Arizona on Monday night at 6PM. The Wildcats beat Miami 5-1 to advance to the winners bracket with OSU.
