OKLAHOMA CITY- A prayer protest gathered Tuesday outside of what will be the third women's center that offers abortion in the state of Oklahoma.
There hasn't been a new facility that offers abortion opened in Oklahoma City in 40 years.
"We don't want an abortion clinic one block from our school and church," said Father Bill Pruitt of Saint James Catholic Church.
The Trust Women's South Winds Women's Center is set to open soon on S.W. 44th Street.
Those of all faiths gathered together Tuesday to pray that doesn't happen.
"I hate it. I've lived here since almost 1960 I haven't seen anything this evil," said neighborhood resident Jim Howell.
The center is being opened by Julie Burkhart, the former assistant of Doctor George Tiller, who was killed by an anti abortion activist in 2009.
Burkhart opened a women's center in Wichita, Kansas in 2013.
The center in Oklahoma City is set to open in mid July.
We spoke with Burkhart in mid-May when she told us that Oklahoma needs this facility.
"Oklahoma City is the largest metropolitan area in the United States of America that does not have a reproductive health care provider which includes abortion care," said Julie Burkhart.
