Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield was named the Big 12 Male Sportsperson of the Year on Thursday, June 23, capping a remarkable year for the Sooner All-American.

Hield was the consensus national player of the year this past season, leading the Sooners to their first Final Four since 2002.

Hield was named the Big 12 Player of the Year for the second season in a row, the first to ever accomplish that.

The award comes on the same day as the NBA Draft.

Hield is projected as a top ten pick in the draft.
