Man accused of stealing vehicle with pets inside

STILLWATER, Okla. – Authorities say one animal has been recovered after being an unintended passenger in a stolen vehicle.

On May 5, officers say a gold 2003 Toyota Sienna minivan was stolen from the parking lot of Noodles & Company in Stillwater.

The van had several dents, a damages driver’s side brake light, a Bernie Sanders bumper sticker and Oklahoma license plate “304-JTJ.”

However, the owner says what was inside the van was more important than the vehicle.

Police say two dogs and a kitten were inside the van, along with numerous pieces of personal and business property.

Over a month later, the kitten taken in the theft was recovered at a shelter in Crescent after being found by a Good Samaritan.

The owner called several shelters to describe what the missing animals looked like, so the Crescent shelter was able to identify the kitten immediately.

Authorities say the man accused of stealing the van is described as a white man with light brown hair  that was curly on top and shaved on the sides.

At the time of the theft, he was wearing a green shirt.
