LOGAN COUNTY, Ark. - An escaped inmate is back in custody after getting a beer and asking the bar owner to call the sheriff.

One week ago, KFSM reports that 45-year-old Shaun Higham escaped from the Logan County Detention Center.

Law enforcement officers were searching the surrounding area when the owner of Mitch's Place called the sheriff's office.

"He came walking out of the dark and he said, 'Mitch,' and I said, 'Shaun, your picture is all over the TV," Mitchell Ford told KFSM. "[Higham] said, 'Mitch, I know. Will you help me turn myself in?"

Higham told Ford that he hadn't eaten in eight days, so Ford gave him dinner, a beer and called authorities.

Higham was taken into custody without incident, and was very cooperative and apologetic, a news release from the sheriff's office.

Officers say Higham was tired, hungry and had several insect bites.
