The 2008 Beijing Olympics was the last time we saw softball played in the summer games. Since then, the game has been confined to World Cup and World Championship action on the international level.

But after eight years of being excluded from the Olympic lineup, there is hope for the sport yet.

A recent push is putting softball in front of the International Olympic Committee for serious reconsideration.

According to the Associated Press, softball, along with baseball, surfing, skateboarding, sport climbing and karate, will be presented as a package of events to appear in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

The decision will be voted on by the IOC General Assembly in Rio De Janeiro on August 4th.
