STL officer shot during traffic stop listed in critical condition

BALLWIN, Mo. —A police officer, who was shot during a routine traffic stop in western Saint Louis County on Friday, is being treated at Mercy Hospital.

The unnamed officer was returning to his vehicle to process paperwork, when the driver rushed him, shooting the officer in the neck.

The suspect, Antonio Taylor, was caught a few miles from where the shooting took place.

The wounded officer, who has been with the Ballwin police department for two years, is listed in critical, but stable condition.

The 31-year-old Taylor is facing three felony charges, including weapons charges.
