LUTHER, Okla. – After three days of searching, authorities have arrested a man wanted in connection to a deadly shooting in Luther.

On July 12, authorities say they were called to reports of a disturbance on Sorghum Mill Rd. near Luther Rd. around 4 a.m. Monday.

When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Tyler Muck dead from an apparent gun shot wound.

Witnesses at the scene told police that Muck was arguing with his wife, which then turned into a physical altercation.

That is when authorities say Muck’s wife and two other males asked him to leave the home.

Instead of leaving, Muck allegedly raised a weapon and pointed it at 25-year-old William Haywood, Jr., an arrest warrant states.

Haywood then allegedly pulled out his own gun and shot Muck.

Witnesses say after the shooting, Haywood took off in the victim’s wife’s car.

The car was later found, but Haywood was nowhere to be found.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Haywood shortly after the shooting.

On Friday, July 15, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Haywood was in Cherokee County.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office followed the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office’s tip and arrested Haywood at a home in Tahlequah, Okla.
