BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, Mo. - A teenager suspected of shooting the owners of a beauty supply shop in Missouri has turned herself in to police.

Police told KMOV that a 13-year-old girl and another teenager attempted to steal several items from Kings Beauty Supply.

The store owner's parents, who are both in their 70s, got the items back and kicked the teens out of the store.

"The shop stewards that were there were kind enough to not press charges, saying the crime was in their eyes, petty giving that person a second chance essentially," said Chief Jeremy Ihler told KMOV.

However, the teens returned to the store and police were called. Officers took one of the girls into custody, but the 13-year-old was released.

Police told KTVI that they believe the girl came back to the store, shot the couple and ran away with money and merchandise.

The couple is in critical condition at an area hospital.

The teen suspect, accompanied by three aunts and her father, showed up at police headquarters late Wednesday morning to turn herself in, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
