STILLWATER, Okla.– Tyrek Coger, a junior college transfer from North Carolina, has died after collapsing after a team workout Thursday afternoon, according to Oklahoma State University.

The 21-year-old Cowboy basketball forward was transported to Stillwater Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 6:23 p.m.

“Tyrek was excited to be at Oklahoma State and had such passion for the game and was looking forward to being an OSU Cowboy. Losing a member of the team is like losing a member of the family. But we know our loss pales in comparison to the pain his family is going through,” said Cowboy Head Basketball Coach Brad Underwood.

Coger arrived on to the OSU campus on July 5 after playing last season at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina.
