12-year-old boy dies after collapsing during hike in triple-degree heat

PHOENIX, Ariz.- A 12-year-old Arizona boy has died after collapsing while hiking.

Police say the boy was hiking on Friday afternoon along the “Sidewinder Trail” with an adult when he suddenly passed out from the extreme heat.

According to KPHO, it was 110 degrees in the area and there is very little shade along the trail.

Rescue crews brought him from the mountain, and he was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Tragically, he passed away.

Now, authorities are investigating his death.
